PLANET FLOWER

Our History

PLANET FLOWER is a floral firm of long standing. Its roots go back to the early twentieth century, when founder Georgios Klouvatos first set up a family enterprise under his own name. (Its current corporate name dates from 2005).
In 1950 his son, Antonios Klouvatos, took over and expanded the company, also becoming a founding member of the Prombona central floral market of Athens.

The company management took its present form in the 1970's with the addition of Demetrios Varthakouris, who collaborated with Antonios Klouvatos to provide the infrastructure and create the conditions for the further consolidation of the firm's position and its development in the Greek market.

PLANET FLOWER chose the beautiful island of Kos, in the Dodecanese chain, as its center of operations due to its ideal climatic conditions. There it grows lilium flowers in an area of 30 stremma (three hectares), of which 25 consist of hothouses covered in state-of-the-art glazing. Lilium growing is the firm's area of specialty and longest experience.

Its greatest asset and motive power is the desire for development, both in terms of equipment and of human resources.
The new generation of the firm's management is led by the younger Georgios Klouvatos, the founder's grandson, and Ioannis Varthakouris, the son of Demetrios Varthakouris, in a continuation of a venerable tradition.
Closely following trends in the international and Greek markets, they are carrying on on the road towards the company's progress.
The new PLANET FLOWER corporate logo has been devised as a means of greater recognition in the floral market through high product quality, on-time delivery, and aesthetic value.
